Design Technology
At Old Buckenham High School, Design and Technology (DT) is all about problem-solving, innovation, and turning ideas into reality. Our DT curriculum empowers students to become confident designers, critical thinkers, and responsible creators who are ready to shape the world around them.
Rooted in our school values of Community, Ambition and Respect, DT at OBHS encourages students to work both independently and collaboratively to tackle real-world challenges. Through a range of practical and theory-based projects, students learn to research, design, prototype, and evaluate with care, creativity, and purpose.
Our students explore a wide variety of materials and disciplines – from resistant materials and electronics to textiles and food technology. Sustainability, user needs, and safe working practices are built into everything we teach, preparing students to make thoughtful and informed design choices.
Situated in the beautiful Norfolk countryside, our school offers a calm and focused environment where students can be hands-on and imaginative. DT is a subject that supports both academic rigour and personal development, helping students build resilience, precision, and pride in their work.
