Drama

At Old Buckenham High School, Drama is more than just a subject – it’s a space where imagination, confidence, and creativity come to life. We believe that every student has a voice, and through drama, they learn how to use it effectively, respectfully, and with purpose.

Firmly rooted in our values of Community, Ambition and Respect, our Drama curriculum is designed to inspire self-expression, develop communication skills, and promote teamwork. Students explore a wide range of theatrical styles, scripts, and performance techniques, while also learning how to analyse drama as both performers and thoughtful audience members.

Whether pupils are devising original work, interpreting existing scripts, or studying theatre from different cultures and time periods, they are encouraged to take creative risks, support one another, and reflect on the world around them.

Our rural Norfolk setting provides a calm and focused environment where students can grow in confidence and character. Drama contributes significantly to their personal development, equipping them with skills that benefit them far beyond the stage – including empathy, leadership, and resilience.

Outside of lessons, Drama is a vibrant part of life at Old Buck. Students have the opportunity to take part in school productions, lunchtime clubs, workshops, and theatre visits. These experiences are designed to stretch ambition and spark a lifelong appreciation for the performing arts.
