Introduction

Old Buckingham High School is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying relevant accessibility standards in line with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2.

Compliance Status

Despite the partial exemption for schools, we strive to ensure our website conforms to WCAG 2.2 accessibility standards. This means that our website aims to be:
• Perceivable: Information and user interface components are presented in ways that users can perceive.
• Operable: User interface components and navigation are operable.
• Understandable: Information and the operation of the user interface are understandable.
• Robust: Content is robust enough to be interpreted by a wide variety of user agents, including assistive technologies.

Measures Taken to Improve Accessibility

To enhance accessibility, our website features:
• A clear and consistent navigation system.
• Fully responsive format to fit any screen size
• Ability to zoom up to 400%+
• Change colours, contrast levels and fonts
• Well-structured content using appropriate headings and landmarks.

Non-Accessible Content

Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility, some content is not yet fully accessible. This may include:
• older PDF's may be inaccessible to assistive technologies
• not all elements of the site may be able to be read by screen readers
• third party plugins may not be fully accessible
• video content may not include captions
• some images may lack alternative text or captions
• some images may contain textual content that is inaccessible to assistive technologies

We are in the process of having a new website built which will enhance accessibility for all – this should be live by the summer 2025.

If you encounter any issues, please let us know so we can work to improve accessibility.
